TheStar.com – News/Healthzone.ca – One in seven living with disability
December 29, 2009. Heather Scoffield, THE CANADIAN PRESS
OTTAWA–An aging population and growing awareness mean the number of people living with disabilities is on the rise in Canada, according to a newly released report.
More people with disabilities have access to jobs and the aids they need, but the wage gap between those with disabilities and those without is growing.

Timely justice
TheGlobeandMail.com – Politics – Timely justice
December 7, 2009. Andrew Steele

TheGlobeandMail.com – Opinion/Editorial – State care is no home
Published on Friday, Dec. 04, 2009.
It is time to expand adoptions of native children so that non-native parents can give them the love and nurturing that any child needs. It is scandalous that a vast population of native children are in state care with no hope of being adopted into a family. That scandal has come into public view in an arson case in Sudbury featuring two native boys, 12 and 13, who burned down a popular community centre, the Steelworkers Hall.

TheGlobeandMail – Opinions/Web-exclusive commentary – The playing field is still uneven: Modern forms of discrimination continue to keep, push and pull women out of better jobs
Published on Wednesday, Dec. 02, 2009. Jennifer Berdahl
It is popular to assume that the workplace has become an even playing field. Stubborn trends of inequality – like a continued and widening gender pay gap and lower returns on education for women than for men – are explained away with “choices.” We are to believe that women “opt out” of equal work, pay and quality jobs.
