Michael J. Prince went looking for evidence that those in positions of power give any thought at all to people with disabilities when formulating and assessing policies. He found little beyond empty words.

It is heart warming to witness the generosity of individuals replenishing food banks. Sadly, filling food hampers offers only a Band-aid solution to poverty.

Twenty-plus years ago food banks were meant to be a temporary stop-gap measure. Today, they are permanent fixtures. Our three levels of government are getting off scot-free as generous individuals regularly provide assistance.

This proposal from the senior adviser of BMO Capital Markets sounds to me like one more scheme to reduce corporate taxes and further impede the ability of governments to provide social programs to the Canadians who depend on them to stay financially afloat.
