Summer approaches, so it must be time for another annual confrontation with Mohawk “warriors” intent on flaunting their contempt for the law.
And right on time, a group of militants on the Akwesasne reserve near Cornwall, Ont., has appeared to impose their will, and whatever disruption they can manage, on residents of their own reserve and surrounding regions.

In pursuit of safer streets, Ontario has increased police resources for special guns and gangs units, dedicated Crown attorneys to handle these cases and built major crimes courts for large, complex trials.
But our justice system has two sides, and those who represent most of the defendants in these cases – government-funded legal aid lawyers – are being left behind.

Perhaps it’s just a coincidence, but the more the federal government finds itself lacking options on the economic front, the more progress it seems to make in other areas of the Conservative agenda.
