Re:Ontario poor still waiting for strategy – Sept. 25

I would like to thank the Star for reinforcing exactly what I spoke about at Queen’s Park. I went through this whole exercise to confirm that everyone in the room could see, hear and understand me. Despite that, it is apparent that the voices of those with first-hand experience are not being heard by other mainstream media, let alone at those tables that can facilitate effective change.

At the end of the conference I summarized the facts that the NDP’s Michael Prue and Josephine Grey, of the Ontario Coalition for Social Justice, made about housing and living incomes and mentioned Article 25 of the UN Declaration of Human Rights: “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well being of himself and his family.”

If we are overlooked by most of the media in such venues, how are we suppose to convince people in charge of public policy to implement changes that are needed?
